Wednesday June 18th

Baby class was a lot of fun last night. However, after two straight nights of baby oriented classes that ran a total of 5.5 hours, I'm ready for a break! Hopefully I can relax with a Cub win or something...at least there's no more basketball! Why can't Larry Bird bring some of that Celtic magic to the Pacers? They're freaking terrible and I don't see it getting any better for next year. Larry did send me an email today inviting me to the P's draft party next week. Depune, you should go and ask some of those questions we've been bandying about.

Hard to believe that Tiger Woods was playing 91 holes of golf over 5 days on a stress fracture in his left knee. His last 9 holes on Saturday was some of the most amazing golf I have ever seen, and I remember Jack's final 9 on the way to his last Green Jacket in '86. He's out for the season with surgery on the knee. I've heard it also includes work on his ACL. No Tiger for the British Open, PGA Championship, or Ryder Cup which is at Valhalla in Louisville this year. This is certainly not good news for the PGA.

If you're out tonight, enjoy the full moon. It looked pretty cool last night on the way home from class.

Beware of the shrinking cereal box! Seems at Kellogg, they're making the boxes smaller but the price remains the same. [Atlanta Journal Constitution]

It's the 150th Anniversary of Darwin's first announcement of natural selection. There's going to be an 18 month party for it as well. This is from the blog on biology from the NY Times.

I think this may be where 'news' is going. Katie Couric is turning to YouTube to help with her button down image that you see on the CBS Evening News. [LA Times]

Kind of an appropriate baby article from the NY Times...when do you outfit your kid with their own cell phone, iPod, etc.? Something we're going to be up against sooner than I care to imagine! [NY Times]

I know I've talked at length about the awesomeness that is Iron Man. Here's a cool article on the director behind the movie, Jon Favreau. And yes, he was the guy from Swingers. [LA Times]

Who doesn't feel this way about wine conniseuers? Best left to say, it's good or it's not good! [Chicago Tribune]

The floods in the Midwest are just devastating. However, it's not just the homes and property that is left behind when the levee breaks. I really don't know if I could have left...[Chicago Tribune] The floods in America's heartland are certainly not going to help with food supplies. Haiti is having a really tough go of it. [Atlanta Journal Constitution] As for the floods, they just keep heading down river toward the Mississippi and beyond. [BBC]

Check out some of the MPG on these gas guzzlers from yore! It's amazing we still have any oil left. [Chicago Tribune]

I guess if you still put bumper stickers on your car, you need to be watched out for. Seems bumper sticker fans are also prone to road rage. [Atlanta Journal Constitution]
