Hello all...Rowan is still waiting around for her grand entrance. Of course, she's not due until the 14th, but Brooke and I are ready to meet her! Nursery's ready and I'll have some photos up later tonight showing the finished room. It's looking good!
Fantasy season is heating up around SpydeysWebb.com. Had 53 visitors yesterday to the site, which was the most since NCAA Tourney time. If you haven't already, sign up for email updates on the right side of the blog. There's no junk mail, just updates. I promise.
My fantasy fortunes rest in the Sonic Death Monkey this year. Watched High Fidelity the other night and really liked when Jack Black said that on stage and told Brooke that's what my name should be. She said it'd be a good progression from the Spider Monkeys last year. I agreed. Still need 4 owners names, but it's a start. All fantasy updates on the FWFFL page.
Went to see WALL-E last weekend with my dad. What an amazing movie. We didn't even have any kids with us and we all loved it! My review is up on the main page. Might check out Pineapple Express this weekend. Looks like a funny one.
It was about time, but Art Monk deserved his Hall of Fame induction this past weekend. Also didn't hurt that the Redskins beat the Colts on the HOF Game on Sunday night. Randle El looked good, didn't he? [USA Today]
Numbers don't lie...it might be better to keep the gas guzzler than trade in for a new high MPG model. Cool calculator link in the story to do your own calculations. [NY Times]

[NY Times] Also need to refresh yourselves on the scoring the gymnastics this time around. No more perfect 10s. And don't kid yourselves, you'll be watching the gymnastics! [NY Times]
Today in History: The United States dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, that instantly killed an estimated 66,000 people in the first use of a nuclear weapon in warfare. Today's picture is the A-Bomb dome. On the 50th anniversary in 1995 I was living in Japan and my parents were visiting. We watched the commemoration ceremony on TV with one of my students. I remember thinking how far our relations with Japan had come in 50 years. When I was in high school, I got the chance to visit Hiroshima and lay 1,000 origami cranes at the Children's Peace Monument. It was quite a memorable trip.
This sounds promising! CBS' veteran CSI, which is heading into season nine, is in talks with Academy Award nominee Lawrence Fishburne to succeed William Petersen, who is departing after the 10th episode. Fishburne's potential character is described as a doctor and scientist outside of the CSI unit.
Spider-Man 3 bad guy Venom may be getting his own movie. [Mtv.com]
You think gas is expensive? Try heating your home this winter. [NY Times]
