How was your holiday weekend? Ours was pretty good. We spent it in Tennessee at the Taylor cabin on the Obey River. The Obey River has a dam on it that creates an area that's better known as Dale Hollow Lake. There's a map of Dale Hollow on that link. The cabin is located on the map near the red box 20 (East Port Marina). By the way, East Port Marina has some pretty good ice cream! We had dinner at Sunset Marina on Saturday night (red box 19).
Added pictures to the SpydeysWebb Picasa Gallery. There's a link to in in the blog post below.
This is a great story! From something horrible comes a bit of salvation, the Michael Vick dogs are trying to make a comeback...for the good. [Washington Post]

Ah, one of my favorite sites might be turning us into idiots! This is a long read but very interesting. [The Atlantic]
Watched an interesting documentary on HBO last night about the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City. They had a part about the government at the time putting down citizen riots prior to the start of the Games. Not surprising that China may be having their own internal problems prior to the Games. Hasn't been the only issues the Middle Kingdom's had to deal with either...from earthquakes to floods and now locusts too! [Washington Post & LA Times]
The first hurricane of the season has formed in the Atlantic. Bertha won't be getting close to The States, but it's just the beginning I'm sure. [Miami Herald]
Brazil is moving on up...from new oil reserves to supplying the world with more food, Brazil is making a play for regional power in South America. [NY Times]
Ever heard of The Pickens Plan? Read up, it sounds very interesting. Thanks for the link Paul!
The planned sale of the Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field continues. However, in baseball it's not necessarily how much money you have, but who you know. At least they have enough money to get us some new pitching! [Chicago Tribune]
Depune contributions for the blog today. Even though Jonathan Bender was a complete bust on the basketball court, he's taking his money and doing something very, very good with it. The other Depune blog tip comes right from his heart...fishing in Indiana, and not just any fishing: Indiana muskie fishing. Thanks Depune! [Indianapolis Star]
It's next Friday people! And I can't wait. Michael Phillips of the Trib says it's going to be good and I believe him. [Chicago Tribune]
