Wednesday July 30th

Two weeks. That's how long until Rowan's due date is upon us. We can't wait. Got the crib this past weekend and the nursery is getting finalized. Still need a mattress for the new crib and that glider/ottoman combo! That is a must for this dad...

Got my dad to commit to the X-Files movie, but I may have to make an executive decision. It's getting terrible reviews! Some going as far to say that it's stupid with some love story involvement. I like my X-Files without the relationship mumbo jumbo between Mulder and Scully. We may have to change the plan and go see WALL-E, one of the 25 best movies of all time according to IMDb.com. #1 on that list? The Dark Knight.

Yes, the Japanese love their unagi, or eel. It's around this time of the year that we'd take trips to the 'famous' unagi rivers to dine on freshly caught and grilled eel with a few black label Sapporo beers. I took part in more of the later than the former. However, now you can get your eel in liquid form. Nasty. [Atlanta Journal Constitution]

Today in History: the USS Indianapolis, which had just delivered key components of the Hiroshima atomic bomb to the Pacific island of Tinian, was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine. Stranded in the water for 100 hours, only 316 out of 1,196 men survived the sinking and shark-infested waters.
