Happy Birthday America! Well it's celebrated tomorrow, but the actual writing of the Declaration of Independence was done on July 2, 1776. So we can make it a couple of birthday days. We can all enjoy a nice three day weekend for the celebration. Careful with those fireworks.
 
Today in History:
Kind of appropriate that around the birthday of our nation, we had to fight to keep it whole. On July 3, 1863, the Civil War Battle of Gettysburg in Pennsylvania ended after three days in a major victory for the North as Confederate troops retreated. [NY Times & Wikipedia & National Park Service]
