What's happening? Baby class wrapped up this week, so I guess Brooke and I are now birthing experts! Pfft. No chance. This is something we are fully aware we need to experience for the full expertness to take effect! Due date remains August 14th.
Nursery looks better this week. Grandma Jeanne came over, organized, swept, and mopped the floor. We have things in their spots and now we need to get the furniture! Received our Chicco pack-n-play this week from the Mettlers. Thanks!
Summer is upon us and the days are now getting shorter. Try not to let that depress you. The sun is still up until 9:30PM around these parts. The heat and humidity will be arriving shortly, don't wait.
The 10th Sheridan Invitational Golf Tournament has a date and a course! Catch up on all the info at the SIGT page. Get your RSVPs in as soon as you can. As of this writing, we have 10 so far!
Movie viewing has hit a snag. There's nothing out there catching my eye to spend money and time watching. I know, the Indiana Jones movie has come and gone right by me. I've heard it's good (it's made almost $300M!), but I haven't been able to pull myself out to watch it. Same goes for the Incredible Hulk. Brooke was ready to go last weekend and I dawdled around until we didn't have time to make it. I think I subconsciously did that dawdle on purpose... [IMDb.com]
Anyway, WALL-E is out this week and looks like another hit for Pixar/Disney. It's the last of the great ideas Pixar came up with following the success of Toy Story. These ideas included: Toy Story 2, A Bug's Life, Monsters, Inc., The Incredibles, and Ratatouille. Not a bad run of movies there. Not sure if I'll see Wall-E in the theaters, but I will be seeing it. Wanted makes it's debut this week and it's getting hammered by the critics. It's nothing like the graphic novel it's based on, so don't go expecting to see that (assuming you even knew it was a graphic novel to begin with). The graphic novel looks wicked but the movie sounds like a mixture of The Matrix and Fight Club. Meh. [IMDb.com & LA Times]
Our movie viewing future looks bright though. July feature debuts of Hancock, Hellboy II, The Dark Knight, and X-Files have caught my eye and I think we'll be going. On the fence with Will Ferrell's Step Brothers. Look for those reviews on the SpydeysWebb.com main page. Ledger's Joker is already getting boffo reviews. [IMDb.com]
This week's News Quiz. Put your results in the comments section! [Chicago Tribune]
NBC's veteran Saturday Night Live will honor the late George Carlin with a re-airing of its Oct. 11, 1975 premiere, hosted by the comedian, this coming Saturday, June 28. The episode will feature musical guests Janice Ian and Billy Preston
I've wondered how the futures speculation markets work. According to this article, it's so jacked up in there that gas prices would fall by $2 if the oil speculators were shut down. Thanks to Paul for this link. [MarketWatch.com]
New age skyscrapers. This one revolves around itself! It's planned for Dubai with another one set for Moscow. Thanks to Christian for forwarding me this link. [BBC News]
This is not a good development. Nice picture of the pump I'm wearing though. [CNN.com]
Something is being done to help revitalize the Everglades. However the effects on the local economy could be devastating. [Miami Herald]
It's Taste of Chicago week. If you're going, here's a cool graphic on where the grub is going to be located. [CityofChicago.org]
Anyone remember Devo? Appears McDonald's could be in copyright trouble with their take on a Happy Meal toy that looks too close to how Devo does on their Whip It video. [Wikipedia & Chicago Tribune & YouTube]
Looks like Budweiser will remain American owned for the time being. Anheuser-Busch is going to reject the InBev offer. This will probably open it up for a hostile takeover, InBev will not go quietly. [NY Times]
