We went to Kanazawa's Kenrokuen garden on our full day with Takashi in Toyama. It was about an hour drive from the Takayanagi homestead. This park is one of the 3 most famous parks in all of Japan. It was absolute beautiful!
The weather was rainy and a bit chilly, but the leaves and ponds at the garden were amazing. The roped tree behind us in the picture are used to protect the branches from the large amounts of snow they get here in the winter. It was quite an endeavor because there were tons of trees.
An afternoon lunch and walk through the Kanazawa Modern Art Museum made for a great day. We even caught a Starbucks before heading back to Toyama!
