We've moved into the veggies! Rowan enjoying some carrots. Found out today she has four teeth coming in...two on top and two on bottom. She's not much of a complainer though, which is nice.
We had a very successful first plane flight with Rowan. Actually, she was amazing. No trouble with takeoffs or landings. She slept and ate and played. No worries. We got very lucky on the longer flights that there was an open seat next to us so that Rowan got her car seat to come along. I also had an extra seat to run the toys and bottles through. Very nice. I'll have photos up this weekend of our trip to Houston. It was a great time. Gotta love those 70 degree days in January!
Getting to my first IU game this season on Sunday. Taking my friend Steve Lyng down for the Minnesota game. Of course, Minnesota has been beaten two in a row, handily by Purdue at home Thursday. I'm sure they're looking to get healthy vs. IU. I can only hope we get a close game and the week off gives us the energy we need to pull one out. If we can get to 70 points, we just may do it. New AD Glass has created his first White Out for the game and we'll get a T-shirt out of the deal. Nice to see the IU women continue to win and remain in first place in the Big Ten. It truly is bizarro basketball season at IU: women in first, men in last. Sounds like IU has righted it's ship with President McRobbie. [Indiana Daily Student & Indianapolis Star]
We'll discuss the Super Bowl on next week's update. My last two update predictions were terrible. I went 3-3. I'll have the SB prediction next week...

Oscar nominations came out on Thursday. We've yet to see any Best Picture noms yet. Slumdog Millionaire is next, I promise. It's back at Coldwater Crossing this week. Carmike is dropping the ball when it comes to Oscar movies, so no caramel corn! I hope to see Benjamin Button and Frost/Nixon before the ceremony on Feb. 22nd. A nice selection of movies up for Oscar this year. Big studio, small studio, Hollywood, Bollywood, superstars, and character actors. It'll be an interesting 30 day race for the statue. I'll have my Oscar predictions on that Friday before...all of them, not just the big ones. [IMDb.com & New York Times]
This week's News Quiz is back! Good luck. [Chicago Tribune]
Pretty big week for the country with Barack Obama's inauguration. Good luck Mr. President, you're going to need it! His speech was good, how about a historical Top 5. And what's the Daily Show to do with an Obama presidency? Changes are going to come in a lot of places. [Wall Street Journal & Variety]
The Cubs' new owner's adventures are just beginning. I'd agree with this checklist. [Chicago Tribune]
The greenback's on the decline. Ever heard of a Berkshare? [Time.com]
Icicle season is here with the warming weather this week. Watch for falling ice! [Chicago Tribune]
The clean air act is working. You can thank it for 5 more months on this Earth! [Chicago Tribune]
