Two houses down, the neighbor's tree was a total loss. It was half down when I was walking about the block to survey the damage, and as I was out there another quarter fell. By the end of the day, the whole tree had wilted like a flower.
I'd say every yard in our neighborhood had numerous branches down, some as long as 20 feet. One house had half the tree in the front yard and the other half resting on their living room roof! Another branch down the block had fallen on the power lines that connect the street lights.
Work lost power at night and never got it back. We lost power around noon and got it back around 8PM. In the meantime, we moved to Brooke's parents in Decatur for the evening. Driving around the neighborhood on the way out the place was completely dark and deserted. The fallen trees and lack of Christmas lights was eerie.
Added more pictures to the Picasa site of Rowan and this ice storm. Check them out! Normal Friday blogs will continue next week. We're safe here and just wish it would have snowed!
