Friday August 21st

Fabulous week at the Sheridan house. Rowan celebrated her first birthday on Tuesday with new bath toys and Crayola prizes from mom and dad, plus the visit to Red Robin. On Wednesday, Brooke and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary with a nice Oyster Bar dinner and a movie. A very good week. I'll have Rowan birthday party pictures up sometime this weekend. Lots of good ones.

We saw the movie (500) Days of Summer on Wednesday night. Brooke's Aunt Renee said it was a good one, and we agree (so do most other people). Both of us really enjoyed it. My buddy Travis and I determined that after seeing a movie, the more you think about the movie is directly proportional to how good it is. Even if you thought a movie was bad at first viewing, if you're still thinking about it days or weeks later, then it did a pretty good number on you. This is that type of movie, only I liked it from the get go. It's an indie flick with good writing and acting. At a breezy 97 minutes it was perfect for post dinner viewing. I'll have the full review on the main page this weekend. [IMDb.com & Rotten Tomatoes & SpydeysWebb.com]

Being an indie and romance type movie , we saw some different trailers than we're used to seeing on our action/adventure movie fare. Lots of interesting movies coming out soon, just not sure which will be next for us. We missed out on Public Enemies in the cinema and GI Joe is heading that way as well...Look to the Webb Catchers on the main page for an idea on where we may be heading. Speaking of Public Enemies, a new John Dillinger book and an exhibit in Indiana are coming soon. [IMDb.com & SpydeysWebb.com & IU News Room]

Is baseball over yet? It may well be on the north side of Chicago. What a huge disappointment this expensive group of underachievers are. Let's hope the Redskins and Hoosiers can redeem my sports fanaticism during the football season. And yes, I know that's asking a lot.

This week's News Quiz, which I jammed out, and a Pop Culture Quiz, which I most definitely did not jam out. [Chicago Tribune]

Exactly how many rounds of golf do I need to play to get this hole in one? I'm dreading it may be too many. Thanks for the link Christian. [NY Times]

Never thought I could make my own Apple App, but there are companies making that a better possibility. [Time]

Have a great weekend...cooler temps as football season approaches.
