For the weekend, we went up to the city of Leicester in the English Midlands. It's a large city, roughly 300K. Jeff's grandmother (Brooke's great grandmother) left Leicester with his father and moved to America in the 1920's. Jeff used our trip to go back to where his family was from to see the church where his grandparents were married.
We found the church and got an excellent tour by the youth pastor that was there on Friday. The church had obviously changed quite a bit, but was quite an amazing connection to the Taylor family past. One photo has Brooke's mom and dad at the alter where his grandparents were married and the other has the whole family in front of the church.
Our tour of Leicester lasted the whole day Friday. It has a bussling downtown and we enjoyed our walk around the area before a good dinner. Leicester is known for it's rugby team the Leicester Tigers. They have 4 members on the English national team that's competing in the Rugby World Cup in France. Jeff is a new convert and bought a sweet fleece to show his new team pride!
